Remembering Carol Lee (Euler) Jones

8/9/1940 – 1/15/2025
Carol Lee (Euler) Jones passed away on January 15, 2025, in Elgin, SC, after a brief illness. She was born August 9, 1940, in Baltimore, MD, and was the only child of Charles and Margaret (Walton) Euler. She grew up in Baltimore and Winchester, MA, and attended Centenary College for Women in New Jersey. She later moved with her parents to Charlotte, NC, where she worked as a secretary at Goodyear Mortgage; it was there that she met Aaron Jay Jones. They were married October 7, 1961, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Charlotte and later moved to Greensboro, where they adopted their two daughters, Anne and Amy. The family relocated to Columbia, SC, where her husband was President of Carolina National Mortgage Investment Company, as subsidiary of C&S Bank.
While raising her daughters, Carol volunteered as a docent at The Hampton-Preston House. Ever the quintessential decorator, her homes played backdrop to many formal business dinners and were often on Holiday Tour of Homes. Over the years, the family enjoyed beach vacations every summer and also relocated multiple times, which gave Carol a great excuse for decorating more houses. It didn’t take long before she capitalized on her passion for homes by becoming a residential real estate agent – a career that spanned about 2 decades. Among the many places she lived were Charleston, Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Hilton Head Island, and Aiken, SC. Carol’s final move was to return to Columbia – specifically Elgin, SC, – which she truly considered to be home.
Carol (Gigi to her grand daughters) will be forever remembered as a devout Catholic, an impeccable decorator, and a woman who loved her children and grandchildren, dogs, babies, the beach, laughing, and being a Southerner.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Anne (William) Collins and Amy (Tom) Anichini and their daughters, Cameron (Reid) Pepper and Carly Collins and Jordan and Chase Anichini. She is preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Aaron Jay Jones, in 1991.
